چکیده
The implication problem is the problem of deciding whether a given set of dependencies entails other dependencies. Up to now, the entailment of excluded dependencies or independencies is only regarded on a metalogical level, which is not suitable for an automatic inference process. But, the inference of independencies is of great importance for new topics in database research like knowledge discovery in databases. In this paper, the expanded implication problem is discussed in order to decide en-tailment of dependencies and independencies. The main results are axiomatizations of functional, inclusion and multivalued independencies and the corresponding inference relations. Also, we discuss the use of independencies in knowledge discovery in databases and semantic query optimization.

متن کاملImplication of expanded polystyrene and shredded waste polystyrene to control Anopheles spp, Bandar Abbas and Chabahar, Iran
Introduction: Due to insecticide resistance, environmental pollution and difficulty in biological control, usage of conventional larval control measures are not applicable in mosquito breeding places. As part of Integrated Vector Management program, we aimed to asses the effectiveness of two polystyrene beads types for Anopheles spp larvae control under laboratory, semi-field and field cond...
متن کاملNull Inclusion Dependencies in Relational Databases
Functional dependencies (FDs) and inclusion dependencies (INDs) are the most fundamental integrity constraints that arise in practice in relational databases. We introduce null inclusion dependencies (NINDs) to cater for the situation when a database is incomplete and contains null values. We show that the implication problem for NINDs is the same as that for INDs. We then present a sound and c...

متن کاملAn Axiom System for Functional Dependency Implication in Complete XML Documents I - Soundness
With the growing use of XML as a format for the permanent storage of data, the study of functional dependenciesin XML (XFDs) is of fundamental importance in understanding how to effectively design XML databases withoutredundancy or update problems. In this article we investigate the implication problem, that is determining when a setof integrity constraints logically implies another...
